On “Being” Oprah.
It may be a cliché… saying that you “want to be like Oprah.” Yet it is the one honest thing I’ve known since I was 10. “Being Oprah,” was the only thing that made sense to myself then and today. This interview stirs my soul and reminds me of how I knew what I want to be.
My Comma induced Coma
I’ve really been struggling to figure out “comma usage” lately… I’m not sure if it’s just me but everytime I feel like I’ve figured out the “right” way to use a comma, some editor at the NYT, Economist, or Gap Sale blasted e-mail decides to use them differently. As it turns out my nightmare comma has a name, “serial comma”- hmmm, and as it turns out it’s weary of newspaper editors which explains the confusion. The serial comma is often omitted from newspaper articles but not from academic prose, a grave mistake if you ask me…
So, in case you’re feeling like a coma would be time better spent… here’s a link with tips on commas.

Also, here’s a visual of my conundrum… See, the meaning totally changes with just one stinkin’ comma.
P.S.- The Serial Comma= The Oxford Comma
Diane Sawyer’s Take On Landing Her 1st “Big Story”
What makes a journalist?
The question is debatable… Jorge Ramos’ interview with Anthony Bourdain doesn’t help. Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown” gives the debate a new spin as he documents food around the world.
